Welcome to Knoxville High School!

This is my 13th year in education, including serving as a teacher, coach, sponsor, and administrator. I am excited to be apart of such a great faculty, staff, and community that makes Knoxville High School a great place for students to learn and grow.

My educational journey begins with graduating from Knox College with a Bachelor of Arts in Education while playing college football and baseball for the Prairie Fire. I also hold a Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction from Missouri Baptist University and a Principal Endorsement from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. I am currently pursuing my Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Superintendent Endorsement from Aurora University.

I began my career in education here in Knoxville as a history teacher at Knoxville Jr. High. I also served as a high school football and baseball coach, and junior high track and student council sponsor. Following my experience as a classroom teacher and coach, I served as the Assistant Principal and Athletic Director at Dunlap Middle School, and recently as the Assistant Principal at Dunlap High School. These experiences have provided me with valuable insights into the diverse needs of students, parents, and educators.

At Knoxville High School, my personal mission is to provide a safe learning environment where students can build positive relationships to obtain the knowledge and skills they need to be independent, lifelong learners. My goals for the school year are to promote a positive and collaborative culture; ensure the learning systems are equitable, effective, and efficient; and promote academic excellence. I value consistency, trust, and hard work.

I strongly believe that open communication and teamwork are essential to student success, and I encourage parents and guardians to engage in their child’s education actively and participate in the school community. Throughout the school year, you can expect regular updates on important events, academic achievements, and extracurricular activities through newsletters, emails, and updates on our school website (https://www.bluebullets.org/o/khs). I highly encourage our students, parents, and community to get involved and attend school activities and functions as this is vital to the success of our students.

I look forward to working with and getting to know each of our students and families. Please feel free to contact me at 309-289-2324 or amize@bluebullets.org if you have any questions, concerns, or simply want to introduce yourself.
