Community members gathered at Knoxville High School this week for the initial steps in creating a “Portrait of a Graduate”. Facilitated by Battelle for Kids; local community leaders, families, students and teachers worked together to identify future-ready skills that graduates of Knoxville will need to thrive in the ever-changing landscape of education, the workplace, and life. When complete, the Portrait of a Graduate will serve as a shared vision for our district, schools and community.
Initial conversations focused on the hopes, dreams, and aspirations that our stakeholders have for our students. Additionally, the attendees identified essential durable skills and competencies that our students will need for success in a rapidly changing, complex world. We look forward to our continued partnerships with Battelle for Kids and our stakeholders as we develop our portrait and plan for implementation. Watch for updates throughout the process.
This work is made possible through a grant opportunity, Stronger Connections. This grant was created to help schools provide all students with safe and supportive learning opportunities and environments that are critical for their success.
